Small Groups at St Mary with St Matthew
In our large town centre church it can be hard to get to really get to know others and feel like you really belong. Whilst our church is welcoming and friendly we find being a member of a small group is the best way to start to fit in.
We have many different types of small group for people at different stages. If you are new to new to Christianity then take a look at Christianity Explored and Alpha small groups which run at various time throughout the year. If you're already a Christian then have a look at our Growth Groups and Home Groups. If you are an International in Cheltenham you might look at our internationals group. From women's meetings, to youth groups and singles, you will find something to suit your situation.

Here are some comments from members who were asked what they like best about their group life:
“You get to the point I think, where you just genuinely care about each other. And to have a group of people who are dedicated to genuinely encouraging you in your faith, it is unlike anything in the world.”
“Because we are a small group, we can actually listen to each other and apply the things we are learning to our individual lives. So we are all talking about what the passage is actually telling us to think and do in reality.”
“Uhmm, looking at passages from the Bible from lots of different aspects, the people in my group see how the passage impacts us in different ways.”
“To see people grow in their understanding of God’s love and to get rid of the cliches - all the sort of religious jargon that they have built up over the years - and instead find out what is real underneath it all.”
Being a member of a small group really is a great opportunity to grow as a Christian and really get involved in the Church Family. If you would like to join a group or talk further about your involvement in a group do contact Tim Curtis - E: timc@stmstm.org.uk - T: 01242 519520
Small Groups: a great way to feel a part - and to take part - in our church life
