Children and Families

All of us at Cheltenham Minster with St Matthew’s are passionate about seeing all of our parents, young people and wider families grow as disciples of Jesus. In everything we do, we aim to help young people understand the Bible, develop their spiritual life and enable them to share the good news of Jesus with others. From All-Age worship to Holiday Club, from Toddler Group to Camps and Soul Survivor, and from Youth Club to Youth Bible study, we hope there is something with which young people of all ages and their parents can connect.

Have a browse below for specific areas, and if you want to find out more, contact Jayne Seward our Children’s Minister or Annie Phillips our Youth Minister

Sunday Club

Every Sunday during the 10.00am service at St Matthew’s the Sunday Club meets with separate groups for children of different ages. We leave for our groups after the section of All-Age worship. Through stories, games, crafts, and Dvds we learn about the hope of Jesus.

Sparklers (Pre-schoolers)
Rockets (Reception-2)
Lasers (Yrs 3-6)

Each of our groups has their own regular dedicated team of leaders, with everything overseen by Jayne Seward.

Bright Lights

Bright Lights is our group for parents and carers that meets on Monday mornings (in term time) 10-11.30am. We welcome all babies and pre-schoolers.

Everyone is welcome, and as this is a very popular group, we often need to have a waiting list! For more information have a look at our Bright Lights page or contact our Children’s Minister Jayne Seward on

Thursday Bible Study with Creche

Informal group meeting for Bible study, friendship and encouragement.
Thursdays during term time, 10.00 -11.30am at St Matthew’s.
Speak to Nicola Coombs to find out more.

During our 10.00am Sunday morning service there is always a period where the whole church family worships together through singing, teaching and prayer. Afterwards children aged 2-14 depart for their own groups. Under 2s can be left in the supervised creche, and parents can of course stay with them if they wish. When it is Communion children return from groups to receive communion with their family.

Spread across the year, we have All-Age services where the whole church family stay together throughout. These aim to include something for everyone and help us learn together as a community from 0-90years (or beyond). See ‘dates for your diary; for All-Age service this term.
