CAMEO – Come And Meet Each Other
A group for all ages, most likely to appeal to seniors.
Meeting on Thursday mornings from 10:30am – 1:30pm.

Each week there is coffee and chat for an hour, then a ‘Thought for the Day’ followed by an activity which starts at 11:45am.  Our activities include listening to talks and musical entertainments, watching films, Book Group discussions and playing board games. The highlight of the CAMEO calendar is the bimonthly cooked lunches.

Usually the morning is rounded off with soup and rolls or sandwiches.  Coffee is £1 and an additional £2 for a snack lunch or a total of £5 for a cooked lunch.  Our members arrive and leave at times to suit themselves. Some stay for the three hours, others drop in for half an hour.

During 2020 we were unable to meet inside but in the summer we took the benefit of the warm sunny weather to meet outside the Minster in socially distanced groups of 6 for coffee and chat.  Also, during lockdown, we have kept in touch with CAMEO members by sending out a monthly newsletter, chatting to them on the phone and treating them to goody boxes.  The first contained a Cream Tea, the second one was a Harvest Supper and at Epiphany we delivered a Christmas Variety Box to everyone.

Recently CAMEO and the Barnabas group decided to amalgamate (Barnabas was a group providing prayerful support and mutual help to those who had lost a spouse or loved one, or were alone for any other reason) and several Barnabas members have been welcomed into CAMEO.  When we are able to meet again we will have a monthly Barnabas style meeting in the CAMEO programme.

We would love to connect with you so please phone Rev Clare Dyson 01242 519520 for a chat.
